Start at the Vista Theater walk down Sunset Blvd. These five street art offerings are hiding in plain sight along this Silver Lake stretch. See if you can spot them. It’s a pleasant, slightly downhill mile. Shouldn’t take more that 25 minutes or so. But no rush. Post pictures as you go–and don’t forget to tag us–@scavtopia and/or #scavtopia. Have fun!
Hollywood Handprints

Cement squares with handprints and names pressed in—except these aren’t the Walk of Fame. Bud Cort, Mary Waronov, Roger Corman. Character actors, independent filmmakers, and the like. Cement legends now.
Famous Swirl

Black, white, and red spirals wrapping around the Drugstore Cowboy storefront. You may recognize this from the cover of Elliott Smith’s album, Figure 8. Some good listening while you stroll.
Skeleton Relief

Heads up–this one’s easily missed. (Hint: It’s on the bridge over Myra Ave.) Blends right in. An unsigned masterpiece.
Pink Creature

Baa! A bright pink creature (a sheep, maybe) on a black payphone box. Every city has utility boxes. Someone made this one worth finding.
Blue Octopus

A blue octopus swims across a parking lot wall. Ocean blue over an ocean of cement gray.
Ghost Sign

FURNISHED single and bachelor apartments…for ye olde Silver Lake singles and bachelors. Gone, but not gone.
There’s lots more where these came from. Silver Lake is rich with standout street art. It’s part of why people come walk this very walk all the time.
Soon, all this and much, much, much more on the Scavtopia app. Sign up to get notified when we launch.
The world is a game.
